Had a great day out at Wembley Stadium yesterday as my football team Gillingham won the League 2 play-off final beating Shrewsbury Town by 1 goal to nil.

Simeon Jackson scored the winning goal in the last minute of the game!

Gillingham are promoted to League One!

Looking forward to making my first visit to the new Wembley Stadium this Saturday.

Just a shame it isn't Gillingham FC playing there!

I'm off to see Ebbsfleet United play Torquay United in the FA Trophy final.

Ebbsfleet United Football Club (formally Gravesend & Northfleet) and Torquay United both play in the Blue Square Premier League, that's just one league below Gillingham following our relegation this season :(

As Ebbsfleet are based in Kent I will be supporting them on the day. (that & the fact that I'll be sitting with 23,000 others also supporting them! LOL

Didn't really know what to expect from the new look Gillingham today. Must say I came away very impressed, not only with our 2-1 win over fancied Huddersfield Town, but also with the way we played.

It was great to see a Gillingham side create chances and actually looking like scoring! All the players came away with credit today (apart from Brent Sancho who didn't seem to be on his game at all, although he did have a hand in the second goal).

All the new signings that played impressed, especially Dean McDonald who looks destined to become a cult hero with the Rainham End.

Duncan Jupp was excellent at right-back and Ian Cox had one of his best ever games for us. Mark Bentley was also very good in midfield and Matty Jarvis scored an excellent goal.

Overall a great performance, Huddersfield could have no complaints if we had scored 4 or more!

Nice to see Gillingham legend Andy Hessenthaler given a terrific send off at Priestfield this afternoon. A crowd of around 8000 were there and full credit to the West Ham fans for their appreciation of Andy also. A great afternoon even though the Gills lost 1-2 to their Premiership opponents.

Can anyone tell me how Portugal were voted "Most Entertaining Team" in the World Cup ? They played with one up front and hardly scored any goals! Plus all the unnecessary diving (unless that was the entertainment!)

Roll on the football league season and let's see some proper football!
