50th BIRTHDAY DINNER !

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Justin & John
Lynn, Claire and I were treated to a meal out yesterday by my brother and sister-in-law to celebrate my 50th birthday (couple of months late due to Claire's knee!)

We met them at The Flushing Inn in Rye, East Sussex

The Flushing Inn has been run by the same two families for over 40 years and the service and food is always excellent.

I opted for :

Starters : "A Smokie Platter" (Various smoked fish)

Main : English Fillet Steak garnished with mushroom and tomato, this was served with sweet red cabbage, courgettes, carrots, chipped potatoes and new potatoes.

Dessert : "A Celebration of 30 Years at the Flushing" (Homemade meringue, coffee ice cream, butterscotch sauce, brandy, cream and nuts)

Lynn had peppered steak, whilst Claire and my brother (Chris) and his wife (Jane) opted for the Loin of English Lamb prepared with rosemary, honey & lavender.

Jane didn't want cream on her dessert so they put more brandy on it to make up for it!!!

Claire had a "Sussex Skip" for dessert (Black cherries, vanilla ice cream, brandy and cream) whilst Chris went for a "Susan Bailey" (Vanilla ice cream, butterscotch sauce, brandy cream and nuts)
